Frequently asked questions

Is the password safe?

Yes. The QR is generated entirely in your browser. Your network name and password never reach Capy QR's servers — there are no servers in this flow.

Will iPhone and Android both auto-join?

Yes. Wi-Fi QR codes use a standard format (WIFI:T:WPA;S:Name;P:Password;;) that iOS and Android have supported natively in their cameras since 2017–2018.

Should I use the guest network?

For cafés, Airbnbs, and offices, yes. A guest SSID isolates visitors from your private devices and lets you change the guest password without disrupting your own gear.

Can I add my logo to the Wi-Fi QR?

Yes. Capy QR auto-raises the error-correction level to H whenever you add a logo, so the QR remains scannable. Keep the logo under about 25% of the QR's area for best results.

What size should I print it?

Rule of thumb: minimum side length is one tenth the typical scan distance. A QR meant to be read from 30 cm should be printed at least 3 cm wide. Larger is always safer.

Does it expire?

Static Wi-Fi QR codes never expire — the data is baked into the image. The QR stops working only if you change your network's name, password, or encryption.
