A Snapchat QR code points to your public add link, snapchat.com/add/yourusername. Scanning it with any phone camera opens your profile in Snapchat, or in the browser if the app isn't installed. This page opens the editor with Snapchat already selected: type your username and you're done. Snapchat's own Snapcode only scans inside the Snapchat app; a regular QR code works from the normal camera, and you can style it in Snapchat yellow, add a logo and download it for print.

Snapcode vs a Snapchat QR code

A Snapcode is Snapchat's own yellow ghost code. It works great between Snapchat users — but it's meant to be scanned from inside the Snapchat app. A regular QR code that points to your snapchat.com/add link scans with the phone's normal camera, which is what most people reach for when they see a code on a poster. You can also design it: your colors, a logo, a frame and a print-quality file.

How to find your Snapchat username

Your username is the handle you sign in with, not the display name on your profile — it's shown under your name on your profile screen. Your public add link is snapchat.com/add/ followed by that username. If you paste the full link into the field instead, Capy QR uses it as-is.

Where to use a Snapchat QR code

Event posters and flyers, merch and stickers, product packaging, creator business cards, store counters and the end slide of a video. Pair it with a reason to add you — exclusive behind-the-scenes, promos or giveaways. Print it at least 2 cm (0.8 in) wide on stickers and cards, and larger for posters.

Keep a yellow QR code scannable

Dark dots on Snapchat yellow scan well because the contrast is strong. Don't flip it to yellow dots on white — light codes on light backgrounds are hard for cameras to read. Leave blank space around the code and test a printed proof with two phones before printing in bulk.

How it works

  1. 1

    Type your Snapchat username

Enter your username (not your display name) — Snapchat is already selected. The code points to snapchat.com/add/yourusername.

  2. 2

    Style the code

Keep black dots on Snapchat yellow or use your own colors, choose a dot style, and add a logo and a “Scan me” label.

  3. 3

    Download and test

Export SVG or PDF for print and PNG for screens. Scan it with your phone's camera to check it opens your profile.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a QR code for my Snapchat?

Type your Snapchat username on this page (Snapchat is already selected), style the code and download it. It's free with no signup, and it opens snapchat.com/add/yourusername.

What's the difference between a Snapcode and a QR code?

A Snapcode is Snapchat's own code and is made to be scanned inside the Snapchat app. A regular QR code to your add link opens from any phone camera, and you can style it however you like.

Will the QR code open the Snapchat app?

On phones with Snapchat installed, the add link usually opens your profile in the app. Without the app, it opens your public profile in the browser.

Should I use my username or my display name?

Your username — the handle you sign in with. Display names aren't unique and don't work in the add link.

Can I change the link after printing?

Only with a dynamic QR code. Make it dynamic with a free Capy QR account and you can change where it points anytime and count scans.

Will a yellow QR code scan?

Yes, with dark dots on the yellow background. Avoid yellow dots on white, which has too little contrast for many cameras.
