Terms of Service
Short version: it's free, the QR codes you make are yours, and we don't take responsibility for what you put inside them.
Effective date:January 1, 2026. These Terms govern your use of capyqr.com (the "Service", "Capy QR", "we", "us"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms.
1. The Service
Capy QR is a free, browser-based tool for designing and downloading QR codes. All generation happens locally in your browser; we do not receive, store, or transmit the contents of the QR codes you create (see our Privacy Policy).
2. Your right to use Capy QR
We grant you a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use the Service for any lawful purpose, personal or commercial. You don't need to credit us or ask permission.
3. Ownership of what you make
The QR codes, designs, and downloaded files you generate using Capy QR are yours. We claim no rights over them. You can use them in commercial products, sell items they appear on, and redistribute them however you like.
Logos, images, and other content you upload remain yours. We never receive copies of them — they're processed entirely in your browser.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Service to:
- Violate any law, regulation, or third-party right
- Encode malware, phishing URLs, or other malicious payloads in QR codes
- Distribute content that's defamatory, harassing, or infringing on others' rights
- Attempt to disrupt, attack, or reverse-engineer the Service
- Use automated tools (scrapers, bots) in a way that imposes an unreasonable load on our infrastructure
You are solely responsible for what you put inside the QR codes you generate. We don't pre-screen content and don't guarantee that any QR code is free of malicious data.
5. The Service is provided "as is"
Capy QR is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, scannability of generated QR codes on every scanner ever made, or non-infringement.
We try our best to make sure every QR code we generate scans reliably on every modern device, but we do not guarantee it. Always test a QR code on the devices you expect your audience to use before committing to a large print run.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Capy QR and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to lost profits, lost data, or business interruption arising out of your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or (b) USD 50.
7. Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Capy QR from and against any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate access to the Service at any time, for any reason, including breach of these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time — there's no account to close.
9. Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. The most current version will always be available at this URL, with the effective date at the top. For material changes we'll post a notice on the homepage. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the revised Terms.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Capy QR is operated, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes will be brought exclusively in the courts of that jurisdiction.
