Privacy Policy
Short version: your QR data never leaves your browser. Here's the long version anyway.
Effective date:January 1, 2026. This policy explains what information Capy QR ("we", "us") collects when you use the website at capyqr.com (the "Service"), and what we do with it.
1. The TL;DR
- QR code generation happens entirely in your browser. The data you put inside a QR code, and any logos or background images you upload, never leave your device.
- We use Google Analytics 4 to count anonymous page views and understand which posts are useful. IP addresses are truncated before reaching Google.
- If you give us your email on a waitlist, we use it only to notify you about that specific feature, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
- Our hosting provider keeps standard web server logs.
2. What we collect
Email addresses you give us. If you sign up for the Pro or Print waitlist, we store the email address you provide so we can email you when that feature launches. We do not share it with anyone else and do not use it for any other purpose.
Server logs. Like every site on the internet, our hosting provider records standard request data: IP address, user agent, timestamp, and which page was requested. These logs are kept for up to 30 days for security and abuse prevention, then automatically deleted.
What we don't collect: the contents of your QR codes (URLs, phone numbers, contact details, Wi-Fi passwords, payment handles, etc.), images you upload (logos, background images), or any data linking your activity to a personal profile.
3. Third parties
- Hosting provider. The site is served from a commercial hosting provider, which sees the request data described above.
- Google Fonts. We load the Geist and Quicksand fonts from Google's font CDN. Your browser makes a request to Google to fetch the font files, which means Google sees your IP address. We do not control Google's logging.
- Google Analytics 4. We use GA4 to count anonymous page views and understand which posts are useful. We have
anonymize_ipenabled so Google receives a truncated IP rather than the full one.
4. Cookies
Google Analytics 4 stores a few first-party cookies (notably _ga and _ga_*) that hold a randomly-generated client ID used to count returning visitors. They live on capyqr.com (not google.com) and expire after 13 months. To opt out, you can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or block analytics with a content blocker. Capy QR sets no advertising or tracking cookies of its own.
5. Your rights (GDPR, CCPA, UK GDPR, and similar)
If you're in the EU, UK, California, or any other jurisdiction with equivalent data-protection law, you have the right to:
- Ask what personal data we hold about you
- Request a copy in a portable format
- Ask us to correct or delete it
- Object to or restrict processing
- Withdraw consent (e.g. unsubscribe from a waitlist)
- Lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@capyqr.com. We aim to reply within 30 days.
6. Children
Capy QR is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we'll delete it.
7. Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we'll change the effective date at the top and, for material changes, post a notice on the homepage. Continuing to use the Service after a material change means you accept the updated policy.
